Bloodwork services designed to provide crucial insights into your pet's health status.
Bloodwork is not only recommended when your pet is sick. It is also a preventative measure that helps us diagnose any health issues your pet has early on. We know needles can make both pet parents and patients anxious. Our veterinary team does our best to make taking your pet’s blood samples as seamless and pain-free as possible.
There are a few places we typically draw blood from your pet. The jugular vein in the neck and cephalic vein near the forearm are the most common. For special bloodwork, we’ll provide you with specific instructions on preparing your pet beforehand. General things we could recommend you do to prepare them before their appointment include:
Our veterinary hospital is outfitted with an in-house blood analyzer, which allows us to analyze your pet’s blood quickly and accurately. One of the most common types of bloodwork is the complete blood count (CBC). Our blood analyzer can examine their blood components, like red blood cells, white cells, hemoglobin, and platelets to determine their overall health. For example, a white blood cell count can assess your pet’s immune cells, which tells us how well they can defend themselves against diseases and infections. If you have questions about the bloodwork process, please get in touch with us at 403-217-0460.
