How effective are vaccinations?

Some vaccinations provide your pet with complete immunity against a disease, whereas others lessen the severity of infection if your pet comes into contact with the virus. Vaccines are formulated with a modified form of the disease that stimulates their immune system to fight against it. Boosters are designed to sustain your pet’s immunity since it decreases over time. When should my pet be vaccinated?

Some vaccinations are given on a need-to-dose basis, like non-core vaccines, which means your pet only needs them if they’re at risk of contracting a specific disease. Other essential core vaccines are given during your puppy’s first four months and continue into their adult years. We recommend following the vaccination schedule below for your pet:

• Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza, Parvo, and Corona (DHLPPC) – a combination vaccination first given between 6 to 8 weeks old
• Rabies – first given around 16-weeks-old
• Bordetella – first given between 14 to 16-weeks-old
